Hi Visitor
In keeping with the theme of keeping your website up to date and using the tools available from Google such as Google Places and Google webmaster tools there are a couple of things I'd like to cover in a little more depth that are much more important and need ongoing attention.
For those of you who are not part of an active management program the following services are still available and can be incorporated into a bundle from as little as 25 Euros a month...
In this issue...
Keeping Your Website High in Google
The following are only a very small part of keeping your website high in Google and significant also because they indicate to users and Google alike that your website is constantly being updated.
Content
As I mentioned in a previous newsletter "Content is King" and I can't stress enough the importance of having fresh content on your website for users and search engines alike to index.
If you own a shop I'm sure you regularly revisit the display counters and change things around. It's just the same with a website. Dynamic boxes on your home page should be displaying interactive content from other areas of your website such as customer comments or recent products or additional services available.
Keeping these areas of your website fresh is paramount as any search engine indexing your website will get bored and go away if the content is not updated regularly (just like a regular user).
My recommendation is that you should spend at least an hour a week dedicated to this for each website you own. If they are grouped and the data is centralised then that can make life so much easier as you update from a centralised source.
Reciprocal Links
Another significant factor in how high your website is in the organic search engine results is the amount of good quality reciprocal links it has. Do you know for example how many websites link to you...? Whether those links are good quality or not...?
Good quality reciprocal links can be identified easily and here's a suggested list of things to look at:
- Number of links to your website
- Are they for similar products or services that you provide
- Are the links on pages that Google has indexed
These and many other variables have to be considered when you are running a reciprocal link campaign and a few good quality links can be just as effective as many low quality links.
Additional Services
The following services have been highlighted in previous issues and may be of interest to you...
Google Places
Creating a google places listing has a number of benefits, primarily it helps you target locally based clients or customers looking for a product or service in your particular location. This is important because the vast majority of searches executed are actually for locally based businesses.
Live Support Chat
We use live support chat on a number of websites and have found it to be an invaluable tool. Almost like being there with the customer as they browse your store in-effect.
Google AdWords Campaigns
We have run AdWords campaigns for hotels and small businesses both here in Tenerife and also in the UK.
Running an AdWords campaign can be an extremely effective way of increasing traffic to your website and in turn increasing revenue. If Done Correctly.
Newsletters
Having a newsletter is a fantastic way of keeping in touch with your customers and keeping them informed of what you do, what new products or services you offer and how you can help them.
If you've read this far then the chances are your clients would also...
IT Managed Support Services
Every business I know of uses computers to some degree or other. Ask yourself... What would you do if it were not working...? What would you have in place to keep you running while it was fixed...? How would you continue to function...?
In essence there are 2 types of support available. Reactive (we fix problems as they arise) and Proactive (a proper managed support program is put into place).
Neither cost a fortune and come with the same basic toolbox which includes disaster recovery, IS Policy implementation, data protection and recovery and helping you to get the best out of your IT systems while at the same time keeping you up and running should there be a problem.
Home Office Managed Support
If you are running a business form home or have a small office then our Home Office Managed Support is perfect for you.
Business Office Managed Support
For any business IT is the lifeblood of your company and if a system fails you are losing money.
Remote Support
The great thing about remote support is... You don't need to be there...! Well, not in a physical sense. We currently run remote support for a number of clients and log in whenever needed to support their systems, applications, fix problems, apply updates or even just to show them how to do something.
